Ingredients

  • 1 7oz can of chipotle peppers in adobo sauce
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 8 cloves garlic
  • 1 bunch cilantro
  • ½ juice of lime

Spices

  • 2 tsps chipotle powder
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 2 tsps salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper

Instructions

  • In a blender or food processor, combine the chipotle peppers, red wine vinegar, honey, oil, lime juice, cilantro, garlic, cumin, chili powder, and salt.

  • Blend until smooth.

  • Place the steak in a large bowl and pour the marinade over the steak. Save 1/4 cup of the marinade at set aside for later.

  • Remove the steak from the marinade and shake off any excess.

  • Sear the steak in a large, oiled-up skillet on high heat for 3-4 minutes per side. Remove.
