Parents need to know that Hellraiser is extremely gory. Killing and mutilating befalls both humans and animals (rats), with bloody death by knife, hammer, and hooks. Nightmare imagery includes a vampire-like man without skin cannibalizing others to regenerate, and the cyborg-like demons called cenobites…

Only two actors returned from the prior films: Doug Bradley as the Cenobite Pinhead and, in a cameo, Ashley Laurence as Kirsty. Hickox said he found the casting process for a Hellraiser film both exciting and frightening. The first to be cast was Terry Farrell, who was returning to a career in acting after a break.

Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth is a 1992 American horror film directed by Anthony Hickox from a screenplay by Peter Atkins and Tony Randel. The film stars Terry Farrell, Doug Bradley, Paula Marshall and Kevin Bernhardt.

The original Hellraiser is based on a novella by celebrated gay author, Clive Barker, and features gay characters from the very start, way back in the 1980s. In 2022, this is no different, with queer characters, gore and terror in abundance.

Hellraiser was initially banned in Ontario by the Ontario Film and Video Review Board. By a 3-2 majority vote, the film was deemed "not approved in its entirety as it contravenes community standards". It was banned because of its "brutal, graphic violence with blood-letting throughout, horror, degradation and torture".

Blood and small open wounds from the trauma is often shown. Wires are summoned by a cenobite, wrapping around the face, throat and arms of a male victim, pinning him face-up against a platform. Blood spatters as the wires tighten. The skin off one of the victims forearms is degloved by the wires (graphic!)

Described by Doug Bradley as stronger than Jason Voorhees and Michael Myers, Pinhead is an extremely powerful being with supernatural abilities. His preferred method of attack is to summon hooks and chains that mutilate victims, often tearing them apart.

Nude monsters and Creepy killers, NO THANKS!

Very inappropriate for children 17 and under. You can see a bunch of nude monsters in Pinhead's chamber trying to kill people as well. ACK!

Freddy Krueger is the main antagonist of Nightmare on Elm Street and a major antagonist in the Gray Chronicles. Freddy is a member of the Cenobite council and the rival of Laughing Jack. He is also the most feared and dreaded enforcer of Zalgo, even more so than Pinhead. Freddy is played by Robert Englund.

Why was Pinhead a female? ›

The original book that it's based on, The Hellbound Heart, was suggestive of a female Pinhead, and the comic books also explored the idea. There's also plenty of fan art, wonderful works that all theorized the possibility of Pinhead as a woman. So it only felt appropriate to us.

Each of the four primary Cenobites from The Hellbound Heart were featured in the film, with appearances based upon their descriptions in the book. The first Cenobite became Butterball, the second Pinhead, the third Chatterer, and the fourth The Female.

Leviathan, also known as the God of Flesh, Hunger and Desire, is the overarching antagonist of the Hellraiser franchise. It is the "deity" residing inside the extra-dimensional world known as the Labyrinth who is the overlord ruling the Cenobites, including their masters Pinhead and the Engineer.

1 Pinhead, AKA The Hell Priest

Even now, Pinhead is undoubtedly the strongest Cenobite.

Early History. Chatterer, as the young human boy, Jim. As a pre-teenage boy, Jim frames his mother for the murder of his abusive father and is sent to an orphanage, where he and the other adolescents are taught that they will be useless to society.

It's bloody but not overly so, by Hellraiser standards it's pretty tame. If your a horror fan it's worth a watch if you have two hours to waste, if you don't like horror films you will probably really hate this movie.

Body parts are shown flying out with gore and blood splattering. After pulling a long pin out of their own head, The Hell Priest (aka Pinhead) tortures a female victim by slowly pushing the pin all the way through her neck, whilst she's being held in the air by hooked chains.

An uncut version is available on video in the USA and features a few seconds of extended graphic footage in the scene where Julia kills one of her victims, who pleads for his life as she is about to hit him with the hammer.
