Some theorized that Parker was disappointed with himself or sad that he was no longer in the NBA, but Parkersays that hewas crying tears of joy. “Basically, it was all happy, happiness,” Parker said. “It was gratitude for this organization for giving me an opportunity, for my teammates for making me happy about this experience. I have nothing but great things to say about the Barcelona experience that I’ve had, especially being on the team of FC Barcelona. It’s been nothing but a dream of mine. And because of this place, I’ve found my love for the game again. And I wasn’t sure if I’d play basketball again, but because of FC Barcelona, the fans, my teammates, my coaches, my friends here, I’ve found that love again and I’m passionate. ”

Nets want to add pieces around Mikal Bridges

Kristaps Porzingis confirms he'll play in Game 1 vs. Mavericks (4)

League sources say the Rockets have had conversation with the Grizzlies about trading down from this pick, and that the Rockets hold out hope that the Nets would be willing to move Mikal Bridges for it. But those same sources say the Nets, on the contrary, prefer to add pieces around Bridges. If Houston stays put, Clingan or Reed Sheppard seem to be the most likely picks. And if the pick is moved, most likely it’ll be to a team that wants to take Clingan. So Clingan gets the nod here as a center with Rudy Gobert-esque dimensions. If he or Alperen Sengun can successfully add a 3-point shot, then the Rockets would have immense size on defense, and tons of playmaking skill from the frontcourt.

Horford has gone to great lengths to postpone the inevitable. Long before age started to diminish him physically, Horford began working toward this type of sustained success. Even before he considered playing this many years in the NBA a realistic possibility, he paid close attention to the work habits of elite athletes. He picked the brains of NBA legends. He worked briefly with Alex Guerrero,Tom Brady’s longtime fitness and nutrition advisor and co-founder of TB12, their injury prevention company. He also sought advice from Brady himself. If the Celtics go on to win the championship this season, it would come in no small part due to Horford’s ability to hold off the effects of age. “It’s funny,” the five-time NBA All-Star said, “because I feel like everybody has been talking about me being old since I was, like, 23 years old. Because I was already thinking ahead, thinking team, thinking all these other things (about the future), and that’s just who I am.”

Horford also investigated the approaches of other elite athletes, including Cristiano Ronaldo and LeBron James. If he found something that would benefit him, he pursued it. In his 20s, he reached out to Manu Ginóbili and Vince Carter — two NBA All-Stars who played into their 40s — for advice. “They all preach very similar things — treatment and staying after and being committed,” Horford said. “For me, honestly, I feel like a lot of guys my age try to do all those things as we understand the importance of it.”
