Martha’s Vineyard is a nature lover’s paradise. There are several ways to explore.
You can buy a one or multiple-day bus pass on the Vineyard Transit Authority (VTA). You can cover the entire Island via this shuttle bus, go from town to town or to the beaches, etc. Transit maps are located at all bus stops, on the buses, all ferry offices, Chamber of Commerce office, and information kiosks. Feel free to flag the bus down outside of the downtown areas, if you are not at a stop. There are stops at or near all ferries and at the airport.

Riding bikes, the number one choice of many visitors and Islanders alike, along the multiple bike paths. You can rent regular pedal bikes and electric bikes. The Chamber of Commerce at 24 Beach Rd, Vineyard Haven, has great bike maps as do all of the rental shops. BTW, all of the shuttle buses have bike racks just in case you get tired of riding or it starts to rain!
Mopeds are also rented here, however, they are very dangerous, especially if you are a novice rider. The narrow roads and lots of sand on the roads combine to make mopeds unsafe. Mopeds are not allowed on the bike paths.
Taxi vans meet every ferry and airplane. There are taxi stands around the towns as well. We have Uber too! If you plan to rent a car, be sure to reserve well in advance to your arrival.
